FOREIGN AND HOME MISSIONS - Our missions budget for 2009 of $166,500 goes to support 82 missionaries and mission organizations that are committed to spreading the gospel throughout the world. A complete list of ministries supported is available in our missions directory found in the church lobby or by clicking here.  To access our missionary newsletters and announcements page you can click here.

MISSIONS TRIPS - Each year we have a number of outreach opportunities at our church.  One of those areas of outreach involves mission trips.  We believe it is important to work along side of and support any one of the missionaries we have chosen to partner with.  Annually, we have various age groups in our church going on mission trips to do a variety of projects.  From construction to evangelism, these trips provide encouragement to our mission family and opportunities of growth for our church family.  These mission trips include:

3rd – 5th grade:  Our children are involved in “glocal” Mission opportunities.  They may package food at a local mission organization that sends food around the world and they may work at local food banks and various children/women shelters providing much needed personal care items.

Middle school/Sr. High:  Senior high students go through a training process before going on a seven to ten day mission trip.  These trips may be international or within the U.S.  The students have participated in construction work projects and in evangelism such as providing VBS and camps to local children.

Adults:  Adults go on an annual mission trip lasting from 7-10 days.  These trips range from construction projects to evangelism/outreach opportunities.  The mission trips are both national and international and are generally tied to a missionary supported by Johnston Chapel.  Our Adult Bible Fellowships are also involved in community outreach events.  They partner with several community servants such as Bluefield Union Mission, Tender Mercies Food Pantry, The ABEL Center and The Wade Center assisting in food distribution and other support type work including cleaning, sorting & folding clothes, painting, etc.

MISSIONS CONFERENCE - A yearly Missions Conference is held to challenge the church in regard to world evangelism. The Conference consists of a special speaker on missions, reports from missionaries we support as well as those representing new fields (to expand our vision), an international banquet, and personal opportunities to get to know the missionaries better.

MISSIONS OFFERING - A missions offering is received each month to help with a special project of one of our missionaries. This offering is over and above our budgeted missions giving and provides us opportunity to share in a significant way with the special needs of our missionaries. Examples of projects have been: the purchase of a truck for a missionary doctor in Haiti, the building of a student Center at a Bible College in Bradley, WV, relief effort in New York City following the attacks on the World Trade Center, and funding for the Bible In The Schools program in a local elementary school.
