STUDENT PASTOR PROFILE

Johnston Chapel in Princeton, WV is seeking a Pastor of Student Ministries. Our passion is to make disciples of Jesus Christ, and we are committed to gospel-centered expository preaching and theologically rich congregational singing. Our purpose for middle school and high school students is that they might be Spirit-filled lovers of God who make disciples and serve others, all for the glory of God. Requirements                                                                                                                               

Competence

  • Should meet the pastoral qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9
  • Should have 3+ years of experience in student ministries (preferred)
  • Should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and/or Student Ministries (preferred)
  • Should exhibit proven leadership (visionary, self-motivated, and organized)
  • Should possess strong interpersonal skills

Convictions

  • Should teach sound biblical doctrine
  • Should be committed to the disciple-making mission
  • Should appreciate traditional and contemporary music
  • Should be passionate about community and cross-cultural evangelism
  • Should agree with Johnston Chapel’s statement of faith

Responsibilities                                                                                                                            

Leadership

  • To recruit and train teachers and leaders
  • To plan and supervise fellowship activities such as camp, Reverb, and Strength to Stand
  • To plan and supervise outreach activities such as Amy’s House of Hope
  • To expose students to Christian colleges and universities
  • To shepherd the larger congregation through visitation, care, and counseling
  • To assist the Lead Pastor in coordinating and officiating ordinances
  • To attend weekly staff meetings

Discipleship

  • To oversee the ministry of teaching (Sunday morning and Wednesday night)
  • To supervise the selection of curriculum
  • To encourage spiritual growth through the Word of Life Creative Discipleship Ministry
  • To teach and model evangelism using the Dare to Share full circle strategy
  • To find creative ways to impact schools with the gospel through organizations like FCA
  • To plan and lead an annual missions trip
  • To direct a ministry providing resources for parenting
  • To counsel students with problems
  • To visit middle schools and high schools to interact with students
  • To support students by attending their extra-curricular activities
